An Exploration of Human Connection.
Meredith Marsone is a New Zealand based painter. Her works combine a unique mix of portraiture and abstract art. Marsone’s work is mesmerising, with a diverse range of emotion being portrayed in the expression of her subjects.
The Abstracted Love collection was born in 2015 when, after feeling frustrated by a section of one particular painting, she used her palette knife to smear paint over it. She liked the effect and finished the painting using deliberate placement of abstract marks.
Marsone paints with oils on both canvas and board, the latter of which allows her to explore the finer details of her subjects. Each painting is completed before the process of abstract mark-making begins. If you are interested in seeing more of her technique, you can find a video here.
